If you have not been to the Small Press Expo (SPX) (held every year in Bethesda MD) and you are fan of some serious comic creativity (and let’s be honest, you wouldn’t be in here unless you were) then you should go. I am stating my intent to be there next year on the talent side of the table, selling books of these very comics. And maybe some stressball grenades if you chumps promise not to throw them at any moving vehicles. (PS – Seatbelts are implied in this comic.)

So earlier this year Larry got me a giftcard for a Sentara Careplex massage and I finally used it today. A very nice lady named Jenny found muscle tension in places that i didn’t even know I had and proceeded, through great effort and not a little pain (but in a good way,) to make it all disappear. Thanks Jenny and Larry!
Is this awesome or what? And don’t answer “what.” Yes, 500 of these things I have drawn for your enjoyment. Unfortunately you can only see from strip 192 to the huge 500th milestone cartoon that went up today. Well, my intent (and I can of course, make no promises) is to translate the sight back to a Comicpress theme that I know how to manipulate so as to add some money-making advertising and whatnot. I know ads are not the optimal cartoon content, but I need to get something back out of this. There is merch on the drawing boards even as I type, including a book or a series of books. I just got to figure out the best ratio of stuff to value. Also I recently faked some company into hiring me to do a gainfully-employed actual job, so who knows what time I will have available to do any of my schemes. So, for the moment, let me just say thanks for reading e9m!
This joke is a lot funnier if you realize that Larry gets my birthday presents late. HAHAHA. So there you go. Anyway, it’s Larry’s birthday tomorrow. He is really old.
I deliberately did NOT use the “no new comic comic” today because I fully intend to put up an actual new comic. But it will be later.
Thanks Mom.
As some of you may know my cousin Denny Cook was killed in the north tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11/01. As fascinated as I am by the events that unfolded on that day I still have trouble watching the devastation and horror knowing that someone I knew was involved. I did not have a special comic planned for today but I think about and miss Denny on a regular, almost daily basis. Terrorists stole him from his wife and two kids, his mom and brothers and their families, and from me. And for what?
Ryan North does Dinosaur Comics where, at the beginning of time, he drew one strip and only changes the dialogue from day to day. Anyway, I am drawing a comic but I was only half done and had to work all day delivering mulch and compost and then had to watch the speeches at the Democratic National Convention and I didn’t quite get the comic completely done. So you’ll see that one next Tuesday.
Job interview news: I did have a job interview and it seemed promising. I am not going to get excited or depressed yet but it seemed like they might want to hire me. Plus, my friend Percy (seen here in a previous e9m) works there and I have paid him a large sum to influence the vote.
Folks, my Mom is in town, I’ve got a job interview on Wednesday, and school starts tomorrow. As you can see I have several legitimate excuses for NOT having a comic ready BUT I DO. Because I am great.
